Gray Warrior for Santa Rosa Feature

CHAMPION trainer John O’Brien has done all he could to bring Gray Warrior right for the Starter Allowance feature on Day 17 of the Arima Race Club season at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today. And the roan son of Banker’s Gold/Love Jazz looks like the one to beat in the 1750 metres feature worth a total of $23,000. But a lightly-weighted Millenium Reign and the enigmatic Dottie’s Way could be the spoilers, with a big outside chance to Super Grey.

The co-feature on the nine-race programme, the Restricted Handicap appears to be in the scope of Movietowne Magic who ran a good race when runner-up to Bold As Brass, without troubling the winner. But the speedy Travel Agent, Soul Asylum and the very consistent Naturelly Classy cannot be taken lightly in this 1200 metres sprint. A 1100 metres race for imported three-year-old maidens is listed to open the programme on the turf course, but with the showers currently lashing the country daily, this race seems sure to be run off on the main track.

This looks like a corker in the making with fleet-footed Marcie’s Dreamer, Fearless Angel, Ascot Kate and Patti’s No Angel holding the engagement. Both Celebrity Jet and Florida Fame have been scratched from this race also with a purse of $23,000. The one to wager on her should be Fearless Angel, but Marcie’s Dreamer and Ascot Kate are looming dangers. Best betting race of the day should be the 1750 metres event for West Indies-bred three-year-olds with only Firepower, Go Geronimo, Golden Gump and Run Manie Run in the  field of 12 going over the distance but without any real distinction. There is a loud whisper for newcomer Del Mar Gold here, but Priceless Fame should prevail.
