Jabloteh blast D/Force 7-0

CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh performed a 7-0 demolition job on Defence Force at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, as eighth round action in the T&T Pro League continued yesterday.

But W Connection remained atop the standings with a comfortable 3-0 victory over United Petrotrin at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, courtesy of a pair by national Under - 23 player Kendall Davis and one from fellow striker Earl Jean.

And Caledonia AIA/Fire moved back to second spot with a come-from-behind 4-1 triumph over Tobago United at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima.

After Dave Charles put the Tobagonians ahead in the first half, Tobago-born forward Handel Manswell equalised in the 54th minute.

National midfielder Densil Theobald gave Fire the lead in the 77th before two late goals by Titus Elva, an 85th minute penalty and Abdullah Phillips 87th, secured full points for Caledonia.

A sparse crowd, including national coach Leo Beenhakker as well as ex-Defence Force trio, British-based Clayton Ince, Dennis Lawrence and Jason Scotland, watched a clinic by Jabloteh, especially in the second half.

On the half-hour mark, Kerry Noray opened the scoring when he tapped in a loose ball inside the eight-yard box after veteran goalkeeper Ross Russell failed to hold a right-side centre from Cyd Gray. And the slim-built forward netted his second goal in the 41st, drilling home a pass from Trent Noel at close range.

Midfielder Josh Johnson sped past TT defender Anton Pierre to fire home Jabloteh’s third in the 49th, while Noray completed his hat-trick two minutes later after beating the Army-Coast Guard combination’s offside trap and rounding Russell before placing his left-footer into the back of the net.

Noray’s pass to Johnson was rifled home in the 68th while substitute striker Nigel Codrington added a further two goals in the space of six minutes.

In the 82nd, the Guyanese attacker collected a long ball from Kerry Baptiste and shot beyond Russell’s reach and, in the 88th, he received another deep ball, wrong-footed Russell and defender Corey Rivers to blast home.
