Spot supposed to be for recreation
THE EDITOR: I am writing this open letter to enquire of Ms Carol Ann Birchwood-James of LanBank, Bacolet Street, Scarborough, Tobago; of Ms Wilson of the Town and Country Planning Department, Scarborough, Tobago, as well as of any lawyer in Trinidad and Tobago, if that five acre parcel of land at Birchwood Triangle, Hampden Lowlands, which is designated in an approved land plan, lodged at the Town and Country Planning Department, Scarborough, Tobago as open space for recreational purposes can be legally sold.
If the answer to that question is no, then why is that parcel of land advertised for sale by “Island Investment?” When we purchased lands and built our houses at the “Triangle” we expectantly awaited the development of this parcel of land for its approved/designated purpose. In fact, we are still waiting, expectantly. The proposed sale, therefore, by whoever, employing the services of Island Investments would, in our view constitute a violation of our rights. Potential buyers/investors should note that this is an approved/designated open recreational space. To the residents of Birchwood Triangle, Hampden, Lowlands, Tobago, this is our property. Let us occupy it! We await, expectantly, responses to this enquiry.
