Couples smooch at QP Oval

UP TO late yesterday, it was not known if this country was successful in breaking the world record for the largest amount of couples kissing in one event. Not denying or confirming breaking the record, sponsors of the “Kiss The World Concert” issued thanks yesterday, to the thousands of couples who came together to challenge the World Record on Saturday. The Trinidad Broadcasting Network (TBN) “Kiss The World Mega Concert,” registered to break the existing World Record of 5,237 couples kissing, at the concert which took place at the Queen’s Park Oval.

The event would have placed Trinidad and Tobago in the Guinness Book of World Records and officials from Guinness were in the country to oversee operations. However, while no one would confirm if the record fell, judging by radio ads which thanked couples for challenging the World Record, it seems the existing record remains. The record for couples kissing was broken last year on Valentine’s Day, in Manila, Phillipines, with 5,237 couples kissing simultaneously for ten seconds. Prior to the record in the Phillipines the existing record for couples kissing at the same time was set in Montreal, Canada, and later in Chile. The “Kiss The World Mega Concert” featured artistes such as Machel Montano and Xtatik, Imij and Co, with Ghetto, Flex, Kes and band, Dil E Nadan, Black Rose, Denise Belfon, and Adesh Samaroo.
