‘Puna’, ‘Guaya’ in schools windball final
TUNAPUNA HINDU and Guayaguayare RC will meet in the final of the Ultar Sports Association National Primary Schools Windball Cricket final. The teams battle for the winner’s prize of a computer, scanner, printer, trophy and medals, with the action timed to begin at 1 pm at the Eastern Regional Sporting Arena tomorrow. Sports Minister Roger Boynes and Education Minister Hazel Manning have been invited. Before the final, Cunupia Govcrnment take on Tabaquite RC in the play-off for third place.
Beaten finalists will get a television, DVD and video, a trophy and silver medals, while the third placed receives book voucher valued $1,500, a trophy and bronze medals. The team finishing fourth will collect an $800 book voucher and a trophy, while fifth to eighth placed finishers receive book vouchers worth $200 each, while there will be several individual awards. This year there were more than 200 teams vying for honours including Patience Hill Government of sister-isle Tobago.
In semi-final action at Starlite ground, Cunupia, Tunapuna Hindu were restricted to 51 runs for six wickets, but Cunupia Government were routed for a paltry 23, with Adrian Joseph taking four wickets for five runs. And in the other semi-final at the Pleasantville Sporting Complex, Guayaguayare RC posted a big score of 148 for four wickets with Orroy Colper getting 43 and Kyle Granter 39, to which Tabaquite could reply with only 57.
