Gang members invade Long Circular
POLICE yesterday rushed to Dundonald Hill, Long Circular, St James, when they received reports of armed gang members in the street, but returned to base empty-handed as the gun toting men scampered away before the police reached the scene. The report comes on the heels of the arrest of two gang members and the seizure of two guns and several rounds of ammunition in the area. According to reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force, the St James Criminal Investigation Department and the E-999 Unit, under senior Supt Roderick Roach, went to an abandoned house at Dundonald Hill, around 7 am, where they found two intruders. On searching, they found two guns and an assortment of ammuntions. The gang members, both 19, of Lower Bell Vue Road, Long Circular, and Lutchman Drive, Debe, were arrested. One of the men was wanted on 16 outstanding warrants, including the murder of Ricardo King on June 1 in St James. One of the suspects was held with a 9mm pistol with 13 9mm rounds in the gun, two in his pocket, and five 12-gauge shotgun cartridges. The other suspect was held with a .380 pistol with six rounds of ammunition, and ten extra rounds in his pocket. After the arrest of the two men, their armed associates went to the area and created a scene with weapons, before scampering away. The two men, who appeared before several identifications parades yesterday, will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today. Also visiting the scene was Insp Lezama,Cpls Charles and Williams, and PC O’Neil who is continuing investigations.
