Local group hits FPATT support for abortion

LOCAL pro-life group Emmanuel Community has criticised the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FPATT) for its stance in favour of abortion and for its association with the pro-abortion group Catholics for Free Choice.

In a strongly worded statement release yesterday, the group said the FPATT was "standing against the Catholic Church by trying to degrade and insult us, Catholic women and attack our cherished beliefs in the teachings of Jesus Christ through the holy word ‘The Bible."

"I expect that our Catholic schools and the Catholic School Board finally realise that this organisation FPATT has no place in our Roman Catholic schools knowing they are supporters of legalising abortion. FPATT has blatantly come in full support of blaspheme against our church and Catholic women who choose to stand behind the teachings of Christ against the aborting agents of contraception and surgical abortion."

The Emmanuel Community claimed that the FPATT had "come out of the closet" on the abortion issue and had always been connected with "the abortion industry through their affiliates Planned Parenthood who are the USA’s foremost abortion providers at their abortion clinics in the USA." The group claimed Planned Parenthood is earning millions of dollars a year in the abortion industry. Their local arm of activists are called ASPIRE, they added.

The Emmanuel Community statement continued: "Catholics for Free Choice is an organisation that hails from the USA where their voices have been quenched by the reversing of abortion laws in many US States. They now need to keep their employment and are trying to survive by being predators of our innocent children in this oil producing nation.

"They have obviously chosen this name to attract the listening ear of the majority, where the Catholic Church’s teachings are well respected. This is a normal strategy the pro abortionists adopt. Case in point ASPIRE, the local arm of Planned Parenthood, calling themselves ‘Pro-Life’ (and) with the same breath is proclaiming legalising abortion (killing of innocent pre-born children).

"Legalising abortion has not reduced the incident of abortion in any nation, (most recently reported in England and USA) it has not improved the lives or status of poor women but has in fact fatten the pockets of Planned Parenthood, ASPIRE, Catholics for Free Choice and many other pro-abortionists."
