KESTON BLEDMAN will be seeking Trinidad and Tobago’s first gold medal at the 4th IAAF World Youth (Under-18) Championships in Marra-kech, Morocco today. The 17-year-old Bled-man will line up in lane four of the boys’ 100-metre final, after he demolished the field in yesterday’s first of three semifinal heats, to clock 10.51 seconds. But Kieron Anthony failed in his bid to join Bledman in the final after he finished fifth in the second semi in 10.75 seconds. Earlier on yesterday’s opening day, Bledman won his first round heat in a personal best time of 10.48 seconds, while the 16-year-old Anthony won his opening round sprint in 10.95. Only St Louis progressed to the semis, but made it no further as she finished third in the third semi in 11.73, and was not one of the two fastest ‘losers.’ And Janeil Bellille was eliminated in the first round of the girls one-lap event, after she placed fourth in heat one in a time of 56.78. The 16-year-old failed to advance as one of the four fastest losers in the event.
