TT whip Bajans in Davis Cup
TRINIDAD AND Tobago began their challenge, at the Davis Cup Americas Zone IV, on a positive note on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Barbados at San Jose, Costa Rica. Richard Brown whipped Russel Moseley 6-1, 6-3 before top ranked national player Shane Stone, whose luggage was earlier retrieved after it was sent to Honduras, hammered Wkwesi Williams 6-1, 6-1. The veteran Stone later returned to take care of Moseley 6-2, 6-3. Earlier, hosts Costa Rica edged Bermuda 2-1, with Felipe Montenegro getting past both James Collieson 6-0, 6-1 and Jenson Bascome 6-3, 6-4. Bascome had earlier defeated Ignaci Roca 7-5, 6-2 for Bemuda’s lone victory on the day. Trinidad and Tobago will return to action today to face the United States Virgin Islands, while they will oppose Costa Rica tomorrow and Bermuda on Sunday.
