Miss Lover Lover in ‘bullet’ gallop

MISS LOVER LOVER, a gallant runner-up to speed merchant Getdjobdone in the Super Sprint over 1100 metres on CLICO Midsummer Classic Day, literally lapped up underfoot conditions at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, to post a "bullet" gallop.

The five-year-old mare under the care of ex-champion jockey Edmund de Freitas stepped 1000 metres in one minute 01.93 seconds on Sunday morning, and must be kept on the right side for the Arima Race Club "Friday Lime.’’

Another to show she was back to her best was Flying Millie, a disappointing fourth in the CLICO Midsummer Classic.

This Jack Debideen-trained three-year-old gobbled up the course over 1000 metres in the good time of one minute 02.62 seconds, while the older Champagne Wager was timed in one minute 02.89 for the same trip.

Newcomer Reef Knot and Privilege had a sparkling run over 800 metres completed in 48.17 seconds, while Hollywood Heidi showed some toes over 600 metres in 38.44 seconds. There was a lot to wake up the chilly morning, with Royal Miss flashing through a 400 metres spin in 24 seconds. And the promising three-year-old The Night Man, a big fan favourite before going wrong, showed he was coming back to himself with a 400 metres spin in 27.03 seconds.

Jamaican-bred Snooky Lou who won many admirers when finishing third to Privilege over 1350 metres on her debut run locally, looked full of herself in an 800 metres run together with On The Mark in a good 49.95 seconds.
