Autopsy reveals taxi driver was murdered
AN AUTOPSY performed on the body of "PH" taxi driver, Denis Seeteram, who was hijacked by two men on Tuesday night, revealed that he was murdered. According to the autopsy report, Seeteram died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the back of the head, shock and heamorrhage. The autopsy was performed by Dr Hughvon des Vignes at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park, St James. It was witnessed by Seeteram’s father, Seepersad Seeteram. Newsday was told that blood and tissue samples were taken from Seeteram’s body for additional testing. Seeteram, who was plying the San Fernando/Fyzabad route on Tuesday at 11.45 pm, was hijacked by two men. The men entered Seeteram’s Nissan B14 Sentra at the taxi stand at Mucurapo Street, San Fernando. On reaching Pepper Village, Fyzabad, it was reported that Seeteram’s car ran off the Old Southern Main Road. The car crashed through a brick wall and into the side of a wooden dwelling house and exited through another side. The house at Pepper Village, Fyzabad, was occupied by Martha Whiteman. When asked about when Seeteram might have been fatally shot, a senior police officer said that they believe he was shot during the crash. Investigations are continuing. Police detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Seeteram’s hijackers to contact 800-TIPS(8477) or the Fyzabad Police Station at 677-7777. A bulletin was also issued for all hospitals, health centres and private doctors to report people seeking treatment for car crash injuries.
