Flying Millie or Priceless Fame for Oaks

THIS year’s Fortuner IMV Oaks on Toyota Day’s Emancipation race card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, could be a two-horse battle. The $45,000 winner’s purse for this race over 2000 metres could go to either Flying Millie or Priceless Fame. It will be a real resounding upset if any in the nine-horse field finishes ahead of the Jamaican-bred filly or the rapidly improving daughter of Alphabet Soup/Pirouette. Only Really Quiet among the rest has any form to demand turfites consideration. But the co-feature Lexus President’s Cup over 1900 metres is a real toss-up with at least five having the credentials to hit the wire first.

The favourite here must be Fantastic Story, but Miss Lover Lover, Top Of The Class and the lightly weighted Carnival Messiah hold the engagement. Added to these, Cash Wager must be kept on the right side despite topweight of 57.5 kilos, this one enjoying a rich vein of form lately. And with the light impost of 48.5 kilos, Dottie’s Way could be a danger to all as will be Royal Miss, a very consistent sort. If that is not enough to grab turfites attention, then just add Fabulous Risk to the mix, and turfites could see a very exciting finish indeed in this race worth a total of $75,000. The rest of the programme, although lacking in quantity is certainly not lacking in quality. And with the showers tumbling down from the skies frequently, watch out for some upset winners on the day’s nine-race programme.

Another very competitive race is the Hilux IMV Restricted Handicapo over 1750 metres with last year’s Royal Oak Derby winner Mucho Tempo holding the engagement. The consistent Super Grey has been galloping well in the slop and if these conditions prevail today, shoud run a good race. And Privilege who has run into some great form along with another ex-derby winner Millenium Reign, Premier Attraction who ran well last time out and Sun Splash can all take a hand in the finish. Finding the winner of the SR 5 optional claimer over 1350 metres will be like finding a needle in a haystack. Dare To Dream, Winning Trick, Hundred Percent and The Terminator all have the potential to win it.
