TT starlets win CFU Cup opener 4-0
TRINIDAD and Tobago under-15 starlets made a stylish start to the inaugural Caribbean Youth Cup with a 4-0 victory over Netherlands Antilles at the Hasely Crawford Stadium yesterday. But St Kitts/Nevis sounded a warning to all when they swamped Anguilla 11-0 in an earlier game at the same venue yesterday. Sheldon Bateau sent over a centre from the right for Daniel Cyrus to head home to open the scoring for Trinidad and Tobago after 42 minutes, and Brandon Rupert made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when he finished off a one-two with a teammate.
Cyrus got his second and the team’s third in the 59th before Rupert rounded off the scoring in the 82nd with his double. In the earlier match, St Kitts/Nevis overran their opponents after Patrick Williams started the rout in the eightth minute. Kennedy Isles got a double in the ninth and 43rd, Javeim Blanchette also scored twice in the 18th and 25th as did Alanje Rogers 21st and 34th and Travis Somersall 36th and 88th, while Jason Kyle added his quota in the 64th.
