WI women cricketers battle in SVG
TRINIDAD and Tobago’s women cricketers will defend their West Indies crown in St Vincent and the Grenadines. They will take on Guyana at the Stubbs Ground in their opening round fixture on Saturday. The West Indies Women Cricket Federation (WIWCF) were forced to re-schedule the annual championships from Jamaica to SVG because of the destruction caused by Hurricane Emily which left the playing fields in a deplorable state. Ann Brown-John, secretary of WIWCF, released the new fixtures and also indicated that Jamaica would not be participating this year. Former champions St Lucia will be TT’s toughest opponents as well as hosts St Vincent and the Grenadines. Barbados, like Guyana, have returned to the regional women’s tournament and there has been a steady improvement by them.
