Green Machine stalled in opener
THE "GREEN Machine" St Augustine and the "Blue Thunder" El Do-rado battled to a 2-2 draw as the 2005 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) kicked off yesterday. The East Zone opened the season’s proceedings courtesy of a double-header at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima but, in the feature match of the day, the reigning zonal champs St Augus-tine were unable to get the better of a combative El Dorado outfit. In the earlier match of the day, San Juan cruised past El Dorado 3-0 with goals from Joel Russell, Kadeem Gibbs and captain Elijah Manners. St George’s will host Arima at St George’s Ground, Barataria in the day’s lone East Zone match-up, from 4 pm while, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mu-curapo, defending North Zone winners Mucurapo will oppose St Anthony’s at 3 pm and, two hours later, Malick will face off against QRC.
