Man Of Class gets the job done
Man of Class lived up to his name when he outsprinted American-bred Invincibility yesterday to win the feature Handicap One and Lower sprint for West Indies bred three-year-old and over horses at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. United States-born Getdjobdone was the overwhelming favourite to take home the $16,000 first prize for the 1,200-metre event but finished a disappointing third. Man Of Class ridden by Rajesh Singh completed the distance in a time of 1:11.59. Invincibility, with Neela Mohammed astride was rewarded for his efforts with the runners-up spot and the $7,680 prize while Getdjobdone, ridden by Ricky Jadoo also received $4,480.
Salsa Moves was out early from the gates and was tracked by the leading bunch but could not keep his blistering pace in the event and finished fourth with Leon Keizer in the saddle. A trotting Trini Calling finished fifth. In the final event of the nine-race card for three-year-olds and over horses, an outstanding run by Second Chances beat Bandikoot over 1,200 metres. Second Chances led from start to finish and held off Bandikoot at the earning $10,000. Bandikoot picked up $5,300. Aticka was good enough for third, while Sunset claimed fourth.
