Open race for Warner Group Premier crown
THE winners of this year’s Warner’s Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Premier League will be decided in the last round judging from the results of matches last weekend. Not only is the battle for the title interesting but also the desire to remain in the top flight of football on the sister isle. This was clearly evident in the match on Friday between St Clair’s Coaching School and 1976 FC Phoenix who came from behind to draw. This result left many very surprised, none the least Bertille St Clair. Kareem Robley and Brian Brown netted for Coaching School, while Quincy Dillion notched the double for Phoenix. The result meant that both Roxborough Lakers and Sidey’s are still in with a mathematical chance despite playing to an entertaining goalless draw out at Roxborough Sporting Complex. On Sunday, Charlottevile Unifiers made full use of their home ground advantage as they defeated Stokely Vale 4-1. Duane Murray scored a hat-trick while captain Jahur Martin converted from the penalty spot. At the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Georgia FC held on for a 3-2 win over Bethel United. They moved within a point of Bethel in fifth spot and safely out of the relegation zone. Shey Jerry (2) and Malcolm Jack scored for Georgia, while Dwane Marcelle and Curtis Winchester netted for Bethel. In the second match Pepsi Hills United came from a goal down to defeat Mason Hall PYC 3-1. Eustace Stewart, Liston Winchester and Keyun Boatswain netted one each for Hills and the "dread- dribbler" Christopher Stewart for Mason Hall.
