TT to host C’bean Zone World Cup rugby final
TRINIDAD and Tobago will host the final of the Caribbean Zone Qualifiers on October 1 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. South Caribbean Rugby Champions Barbados will take on Bahamas, the North Caribbean Champions from 7.15 pm. The winner of the final will earn a place in the next round of the 2007 Rugby World Cup qualifiers stage along with Canada and the United States of America. The final match will be refereed by a neutral official. Top Canadian official Alan Gray has been designated to carry the whistle. Dave Wong, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) said the local union is proud to be hosting the final. "While it in no way makes up for the disappointment of this country failing to get into the final, we are proud to host the final as it could suggest that the quality of the Hasely Crawford Stadium is recognised by the international and regional rugby bodies," Wong said. The final will be preceded by an earlier match between a Trinidad and Tobago Schools Rugby Football Union North versus a South East Under-16 at 6 pm. Admission fee for the matches is $10. Gates will be opened at 5 pm.
