Gordon: ICC may have to settle spat
BRIDGETOWN: The International Cricket Council may be called in to resolve the impasse between the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies Players Association, if it remains unresolved at midday today. Ken Gordon, president of the WICB, has expressed great disappointment that the differences between the two parties have still not been settled, and identified the end of the year as the deadline to resolve it. "We must resolve the impasse which has led to so much bitterness between the players and the WICB," he told the audience at the Barbados Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon. "This remains our No 1 priority. I would be less than honest if I did not admit my disappointment that this issue has not yet been resolved. "While our publicly stated target was the end of the year, candidly I had hoped to be in a position today to state that agreement had been reached. Unfortunately, this has not as yet happened, but we remain resolute in our determination to find a solution." Gordon noted that now the players have accepted and signed the letters of invitation for the tour of Australia, the WICB will do its part to send the best possible team to the take part in the three-Test series next month.
