Goals galore in La Brea Football League


THERE were goals galore in the La Brea and Environs Community Football League during the past week with more than 20 scored.


On Saturday last, Sobo Village suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Stoke City Savannah Boys at the Pt D’Or Recreation Ground in La Brea.


Holly Bigford opened the scoring for the Sobo Village outfit until the Savannah Boys came storming back in the moments that followed. Their goals came from Otis Morrison and Alex David to secure the win.


The following day saw Parrylands triumph over Mixed Generations— a result that placed them in a comfortable position in the league.


Parrylands dominated throughout and got their items from Anderson Wallace and the talented Quinn Thomas for the win.


Action in the league continued on Monday last with Egypt United of Point Fortin in winners’ row defeating Lot 10 three goals to one in a crucial encounter.


However, it was the Sobo Village outfit which grabbed the limelight when they rebounded from their earlier loss to Savannah Boys on Saturday, to avenge their loss by hammering Vance Rivers 5-1 in impressive style.


Ryan Lewis started the rampage for Sobo Village before Bigford added his second goal of the week with a goal that also pushed them two goals up in the contest.


Hesley Joseph gave Sobo a three-goal cushion before Sylvester Teesdale added the team’s fourth item with his strike only moments later.


Shevaughn Lewis rounded off the scoring for Sobo Village but Keron Neptune salvaged some pride for the Vance Rivers team with a late strike.


In another match Stoke City Savannah Boys also secured their second win of the week of football, when they shut out La Brea Bosnia three goals to two.


Action in the league continues tomorrow when La Brea Bosnia will be hoping to rebound from their recent defeat, when they tackle Lot 10.
