Ames picks up US$140,000 cheque
SAN FRANCISCO: Caribbean golf ace Stephen Ames missed a top-three finish but still picked up a handsome purse of US$140,000 after finishing tenth at the WGC-American Express Championship on Sunday. World number one Tiger Woods beat fellow American John Daly in a sudden-death playoff to snatch the winner’s cheque of US$1.3 million and an unprecedented tenth WGC individual title.
