Sportworld b-ball tips off


ALL zonal officials have been called to a very important meeting by the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago.


President Clayton Blackman has summoned a meeting for Tuesday at the UWI Sports and Physical Education Centre from 5.30 pm.


At this meeting, Blackman wants all commissioners, security personnel, team and match officials and Association of Basketball Officials of Trinidad and Tobago representatives to be present to review what transpires at the opening weekend of the Sportworld National Club Championships.


The championships tip off today at the Maloney Indoor Sports Complex.


First up will be a women’s match featuring Northern queens Courts Horizon and Blue Ribbon BCA from 6.30 pm.


This match will be followed by a clash of home team Unit Trust Maloney Pacers and Marabella Raptors of South.


Meanwhile, the NBFTT appointed both a disciplinary committee and match commissioners to officiate the championships.


The disciplinary committee is headed by Gregory Waines, chairman, with Maurice Cooper and Lawrence Hunte the other members.


And among the match commissioners appointed to date are Obadiah Asher, chairman, Joseph Toney, Richard Mungo and Zeno Constance.


Asher has been assigned to officiate the opening match of the series tonight.
