Falcon Crest scrape in Cup quarter-finals

HOLDERS Falcon Crest scraped into the quarter-finals of this year’s Emerald Apartments and Plaza Cup 5-4 on penalty kicks over SportsWorld Young Hearts.

Young Hearts led 1-0 at half-time on a goal by Glenton Sebro, but Oral Martin grabbed the equaliser for the cup holders to send the action to penalty kicks.

But Joe Public kicked the Eastern Conference league leaders Coast Guard out of the series 2-1 with first half goals by Dion Peters and Rene Khaloo.

Dwayne Azola got an early second half goal for the Coastguardmen but the Eastern Lions held on for the victory.

Last season’s beaten finalists BM Spurs were ousted from the series when they failed to show for their match against Combine FC.

And Western Conference league challengers Carib FC crawled into the quarter-finals also on penalty kicks over lowly Trinicity Nationals 5-4.

The teams played to a 2-2 draw in regulation time with Chris Harewood getting a double for the Brewery Boys and Richard Paul and Acori Ross for the men from Trincity.

East/West Coaching School powered into the next round with a 10-0 thumping of Tunapuna Titans with Khell Elie netting four goals, Jevon Critchlow scoring a hat-trick, and Dillon Walker, Marcus Taylor and Leslie Holligan getting the others.

WASA Clean & White the League Cup holders went out 3-2 on penalties to Club TSTT after they were held 2-2 at the end of regulation after trailing 2-1 at the half-time interval.

Keron Cooper and Wendell Alexander put the Telecommunications men ahead before Keith Samuel reduced the scoreline for WASA.

And this same player grabbed the equaliser near the end, but his effort proved futile.

Athletico Sports Institute came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Barataria Ball Players and then kicked them out of the series 13-2 on penalties.

Jesse Walters saw the Barataria team in the lead at half-time, only for Lester Davis to knot up the scores.

El Dorado United advanced by way of a default victory over Malta Carib Alcons in the other match.
