Women support Cricket Board
THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Women’s Cricket Board of Control have come out in support of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control in their upcoming executive election on Saturday. In a media release yesterday it was stated that the decision was based on the fact that the Women’s Board has been pleased with the work being done by the board in continuing to manage and develop the sport in Trinidad and Tobago. The women also stated that the TTCB continues to display the watchwords of integrity, stability and accountability "which are so important for the orderly development of any organisation." For the election Dudnath Ramkessoon, the current first vice-president of the board, and chairman of the national selectors will replace the incumbent Ellis Lewis to contest the post of president. The election is expected to be one of the most keenly contested in the Cricket Board’s history with feverish campaigning by the Friends of Cricket led by Deryck Murray who is going up for the top post against former West Indies Youth team captain Ramkessoon. Lewis who took over from Alloy Lequay, now Chief Executive Officer, for just one term has decided not to seek re-election. This has allowed the hardworking Ramkessoon to move up the ranks after years of perseverance and commitment to the game. He is campaigning on a record of administrative success at all levels of the sport. Ramkessoon is also looked upon as a unifier and not a divisive figure who will do much to continue the legacy of the Cricket Board in terms of stability, continuity and transparency in the conduct of their affairs.
