Curtain falls with Scalextric finals
THE CURTAIN will come down on the Under-19 and adults categories, as the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals in both divisions, of the Scalextric Formula I National Championships take place today. The competition will get going from 1 pm at the Maritime Centre, Barataria. The Under-10 and Under-15 finals were staged at the Barataria venue last weekend, with James Ferguson taking the Under-10s and Kathrine Lee A Ping the Under-15s. Ferguson, a Standard Two student of Scarborough Methodist Primary School, tallied 71.8 points, with Marcus Codallo of St Aidan’s Anglican Primary School second; both drivers earning the right to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 Caribbean Championships in Grenada. Third place went to Reshard Deane with 68.9 points while Jesus Chin King fourth with 60.7. In the Under-15s, Lee A Ping, a grade five student of Maria Regina Grade School, emerged victorious with 74.9 points, followed by 11-year-old Nicholai Ronalds of North Eastern College (74.2), 14-year-old Prem Sawh of St Benedict’s College (72.8) and 12-year-old Kevin Lee A Ping of Fatima College (71.6).
