Fatima maul Tranquillity 9-0
MAKESI LEWIS netted a hat-trick as Fatima began their quest for the North Zone RBTT Intercol title with a 9-0 mauling of Tranquillity, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo yesterday. The unrelated Josephs — Sheron and Emmanuel — added two goals apiece for Fatima while Kieron Marin and Chad De Freitas chipped in with one each. In the other match of the Mucurapo double-header, the "Westmoorings Tigers" St Anthony’s spanked St Mary’s 4-0 with a double from Stefan St Louis and one apiece from Lester Peltier and Akil De Freitas. Meanwhile, the "Blue Thunder" El Dorado and the "Green Machine" St Augustine both had contrasting victories in the East Zone quarter-final double-header at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima. "El Do" needed extra time to spank Toco 5-1, while the defending champs St Augustine edged the "Dial Dynamos" Arima 3-2. Jamal Gay scored for "El Do" during regulation time but, in the 20 minutes of extra time, Kenata Morris notched a pair while Keston Henry and Asani Wharwood were on target for the winners. Daniel Joseph scored two goals for the "Green Machine" in their hard-fought win, with Kempes Villafana adding one. Quarter-final action continues tomorrow with a South Zone double-header at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, featuring Vessigny against Mayaro from 3 pm followed by the clash between St Benedict’s and Moruga. Three matches are on the agenda in the Central Zone, with a pair at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 3 pm, with Chaguanas facing Tabaquite and Marabella meeting Union Claxton Bay. And, at the Presentation College Ground in Chaguanas, Carapichaima will oppose Gasparillo from 3.30 pm.
