Golden Gump steps lively in ‘prep’

Enjoying the damp track yesterday morning, the three-year-old son of JD Gump/Shanaz out of the Glen Emmanuel stables rushed across 400 metres in the good time of 24.90 seconds and must be considered for the 1100 metres race for non-winners of two races.

Another to show good form at the gallops yesterday was the Jamaican-bred five-year-old Francesca who is engaged in the day’s second race over 1200 metres. He was sent over a similar 400 metres trip and was clocked in 25.54 seconds for the run.

Well-bred two-year-old debutant Va-Va-Voom had a very handy gallop over 600 metres yesterday.

This son of Still Alert/Genset flashed some speed over the trip to be timed in 39.97 seconds and could be a danger in the opener.

Apocalypse who is also engeged in the day’s opening event for two-year-olds stepped lively over 1000 metres to stop the clock at one minute 06.00 seconds, and already with two starts under his belt would need some watching in the event. Creme Caramel, making a return to racing after a short break since August, showed some dash in a 600 metres gallop completed in 39.50 seconds.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority secretary David Loregnard has informed that all urine/blood samples taken from winners on the Arima Race Club Day 29 Royal Oak Derby programme including Border Dispute winner of the Blue Riband event, were negative.
