Mucurapo maul Trinity 9-1

AKIM ARMSTRONG and Kerron Cummins scored two goals each as Mucurapo inflicted a 9-1 mauling on Trinity in a North Zone quarter-final of the RBTT Intercol football competition yesterday. At the QRC Ground in St Clair, the reigning Zonal Intercol champs showed no mercy on the Senior Division winners, who conceded seven goals during a 26-minute second-half span. Khaleem Hyland gave Mucurapo a 21st minute lead before Armstrong doubled his team’s tally in the 32nd. But the floodgates opened when Richard Ayres scored an own goal in the 66th.

Cummins netted Mucurapo’s fourth in the 68th while substitute Ricardo Peltier got his name on the scoresheet two minutes later. Vikern Hunte pulled one back for Trinity in the 72nd but there was no respite from Mucurapo, with national Under-20 midfielder Atullah Guerra scoring his team’s sixth in the 77th while Cummins again found the target in the 84th. In the 90th, Richard Roy notched Mucurapo’s eighth while Armstrong completed the rout, netting in the second minute of stoppage time. Mucurapo will face Malick in the semi-finals on November 13. Malick needed extra-time to defeat QRC 2-0 at the Fatima Ground, Mucurapo. The semi-final round will get going tomorrow with a Tobago Zone double-header at Shaw Park, Scarborough. From 3 pm, Signal Hill square off against Bishop’s while Scarborough meet  Roxborough two hours later.
