Border Dispute ducks Crown Point re-match
ROYAL Oak Derby winner Border Dispute will skip the Caribbean Champion Stakes for three-year-old horses and over. As a result, turfites will not see a re-match between the Jamaican-bred colt and Crown Point who he denied the Triple Crown. This race is scheduled to be run off on November 26 at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. When final subscription for the race over 1800 metres closed on Monday, only seven horses had their "subs" paid up by connections making the total subscriptions $16,200. The other two horses to pull out of the race were The Night Man and Mucho Tempo. And all eight runners stood their ground in the Caribbean Sprint Championship over 1200 metres for West Indian-bred three-year-olds and over. Ace sprinter Man Of Class will have seven challengers including fleet-footed stablemate Salsa Moves in the race for which $8,400 in subscriptions have been paid. Meanwhile, connections of Alfie Meh Boy, Royal Miss and newcomer Sky Skipper paid a penalty of $2,200 each at the second subscription stage to get in the Gold Cup, to be run on December 26 (Boxing Day). So far, $10,600 have been paid up in subscriptions, with final "subs" for this race due on December 12. Those which "subs" were paid for the Caribbean Sprint are: Kato; Latonia; Man Of Class; Punto A Punto; Salsa Moves; Second Chances; Silver Bullet; The Night Man. Horses in the Caribbean Champion Stakes: Carnival Messiah; Chief Commander; Crown Point; Millenium Reign; Privilege; Top Of The Class; Uram. And those in the Gold Cup: Alfie Meh Boy; Chief Commander; Millenium Reign; Miss Lover Lover; Privilege; Royal Miss; Sky Skipper; Sugar Mike; This Cat Is Back; Top Of The Class; Uram.
