Fatima, St Augustine in Intercol semis

FATIMA and the "Green Machine" St Augustine advanced to the semi-final round of the RBTT Intercol tournament after contrasting victories at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo yesterday.

Fatima got a goal apiece from Marvin James (penalty) and Makesi Lewis as they eliminated 2004 runners-up Vessigny 2-0.

But the "Green Machine" needed a second-half extra-time strike from Elton John to oust Mucurapo 2-1 in the second match of the day’s double-header.

Daniel Joseph put St Augustine ahead in the first half before Mucurapo equalised in the second stanza to force extra time, which, under tournament rules, comprised of ten minutes per half.

Meanwhile, San Juan progressed to the semis after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Scarborough at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet on Thursday.

San Juan held a comfortable 3-0 advantage before the hosts pulled two goals late in the second half. But there were no late-game heroics as the visitors held firm until the final whistle.

The final semifinalist will be determined today when Naparima oppose Carapichaima at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 4 pm.
