Goldeneye banned until March 2006
TURFITES will not see Goldeneye in a race again this year. Veterinarian Clive Rahamut Ali jr found the four-year-old colt "chronically lame in his left front fetlock," and withdrawn from the fifth race on Day 33. As a result, stewards of the Arima Race Club decided Goldeneye which is owned by Allan Madoo and trained by emerging Bobby Persad, will not race again until March 1 next year. Two other horses, Pave The Way and Redoubled were also found lame by Dr Rahamut Ali, but they were ordered off the track for a much shorter period. A one-time highly regarded colt, Pave The Way has been plagued by injury, but managed to finish third in the second race of Day 33. Redoubled is a six-year-old roan horse who has been lacking any form lately. Both horses will not be allowed to race again until December 10. Meanwhile, connections are reminded third and final subscriptions of $200 for the Imported Juvenile Sprint becomes due on Monday. At the second subscription stage, connections paid up for eight runners including impressive winner on Day 34, Bright King, and the brilliant Enchanted Lake, along with an un-named two-year-old juvenile Yankee Victor-Richie Trail. The race for the imported juveniles will be run off on December 10 over 1200 metres. Turfites are also reminded to arm themselves with their cheque books on November 27, the day of the Stud Farm Association Yearling Sale at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.
