Top teacher announced tonight

The five finalists are Abzal Abdool of Princes Town ASJA primary; Ajodha Sookhoo of Woodland Hindu; Aletia Alleyne of Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive; Phillip Rochford of Lambeau Anglican; and Shelly Slater of Diego Martin Junior Secondary.

The teacher of the year will receive a $25,000 bursary for studies, a computer, $5,000 cash, $5,000 for the school, and the Frank B Seepersad challenge trophy.

The award is hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) in conjunction with the Gillette Group of Companies.

President George Maxwell Richards is expected to attend the function, which starts at 8 pm.
