Digicel says it’s ready

DIGICEL has selected Micon Marketing Ltd as a key distributor of its state-of-the-art handsets. Micon Marketing will also be involved in the distribution of handset accessories and pre-paid top-up cards. The company says it’s all ready for business.

The sealing of the deal has been described by Digicel as an important step in achievement of "unparalleled customer service."

According to Digicel’s chief executive officer, Stephen Brewer, "We are delighted at the fact that we have forged this relationship with Micon. This will allow Digicel to offer a wide range of competitive products and services, state-of-the-art handsets, including top brands like Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, Sony, Ericsson and Sagem and customer rewards to every corner of Trinidad and Tobago."

Brewer said the arrangement signalled the company’s complete readiness to enter the market in a strong position, to satisfy consumer demand and all technical requirements. He explained that pending an interconnection arrangement with TSTT, Digicel had everything in place to enter the market.

Micon Marketing’s managing director, Michael Conyers, said the partnership represented a huge win for his company.

"We are very pleased to become strategic partners with this leading telecom provider," he added.

Conyers said his company had already increased its staff base from 125 to 200 to accommodate the work ahead and is looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Digicel.

Digicel is investing over TT$1.2 billion in Trinidad and Tobago and is employing up to 400 persons directly.
