TSTT CEO: Mobile phone rates to fall
MOBILE PHONE rates for TSTT customers could be drastically reduced from December 1. Strong hints of the possible reduction in mobile phone rates and prices were given by TSTT CEO Carlos Espinal after yesterday’s launch of the B-Mobile phone system at Trincity Mall. Speaking with journalists, Espinal said TSTT has not run a promotion for more than a year, but this was likely to change with Christmas just around the corner. Espinal noted that since TSTT has done significant work to improve its mobile phone network, it may now be possible for the company "to begin launching several products and services in a manner that we always wanted to do it." "What we are doing is realigning some of our pricing. The old pricing that we had, it seems that we are really not consistent. What we are doing is basically realigning them (mobile phone prices). Those prices are going to be in effect from December 1," Espinal stated. He added that the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has been informed of TSTT’s intention to realign its mobile phone prices. Espinal said that its new mobile phone pricing schemes are designed to encourage more customer usage now that the capacity of TSTT’s network has been increased. "So far we have been restricting the usage," the TSTT CEO added. Espinal said now that TSTT has been able to establish a second switch to improve the capacity of its mobile phone network, "we will be revising the schemes" to allow the company to do things that it was unable to do previously.
