Three charged with deportee’s murder
THREE men of Bon Air, Arouca, appeared before an Arima magistrate yesterday charged with the murder of homeless deportee Anthony Figaro. According to reports, Figaro 25, was set alight on November 17 while asleep in the Bon Air Gardens Recreation Ground. He succumbed to his injuries while hospitalised at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital on November 26. Police later arrested three men — Chad Eastman, 19, Kirk Johnson, 24, and Chadee Simmonds, 19 — all of Bon Air Gardens. As a result of extensive investigations, a report was submitted to the office of Director of Public Prosecutions and instructions were given on Monday for the charges to be laid. All three appeared before Magistrate Debra Quintyne jointly charged with murder. They were not called on to plead and their matter was adjourned to December 5.
