Construction worker shot
A San Juan construction worker is now recuperating at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after being shot in the stomach. According to reports, Aejute Persad, 22, was standing outside his Sunshine Avenue home in San Juan at 8 am yesterday, when he got into an argument with several men. Two shots rang out, and relatives ran outside to find Persad clutching his bleeding stomach. He had been shot once. The injured man’s sister, Sharmaine Persad, told police that she heard an argument and a loud car horn, followed by gunshots. When she ran outside, she saw her brother in a pool of blood. The injured man was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery and remains warded. Police visited the ward and Persad’s home. His condition was listed as critical but stable. Cpl Gopicharran of the San Juan Police Station is investigating.
