‘Moka Boys’ crowned SSFL ‘B’ Division champs
TRINITY College recently won the "B" Division Knockout Championship of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) 2005 edition when they defeated Mucurapo 2-1 in the final game at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Football Training Ground, Mucurapo. Trinity’s goals were scored by captain Kendall Sealy and midfielder Brandon Wilson. Wilson’s goal, which proved to be the winner, was a long range rocket from 25 yards out which gave the Mucurapo goalkeeper no chance. The top scorer in the "B" Division Knockout Championship was Sealey with five goals overall but, according to Trinity’s manager Derek Parker, the ‘Moka Boys’ were brilliant in all departments. "In defence, midfield and attack," he stressed, "there were several outstanding performers throughout the four game knockout competition. The achievement has capped a magnificent year for the Trinity College senior team, which earlier in November, earned promotion to the Championship Division of the SSFL by winning most of its eight games in spectacular style." In their three earlier matches of the "B" Division Knockout Championship, the "Moka Boys" gave Tranquility Government Secondary School a 6-0 spanking on their home ground. Trinity then whipped Fatima 3-0 at Fatima College Ground, Mucurapo, and then scored an exciting victory over Diego Martin Secondary School via penalties in the semi-final match last Saturday afternoon. After a 1-1 scoreline at the end of regulation and extra time, Trinity emerged victorious on penalties. That game was played at the Diego Martin Government Secondary School Football Ground. Parker said that the school’s Under-16 team also had a successful 2005 college football season by winning all of its games to become the 2005 North Zone Champions. "And the Under-14 squad also won most of its games, one of which was a 20-0 destruction of St Mary’s College," he said.
