Rain wreaks TT/Leewards game


UP TO late yesterday evening, the latest official word on the Leeward Islands/Trinidad and Tobago clash in the second round of the Carib Beer Series was badly affected by rain.


The game which is being played at the Ronald Webster Park in Anguilla could not even bowl off as heavy midday rain put paid to any play up to news time.


Meanwhile in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, the home team on winning the toss and electing to bat, were 59 for the loss of one wicket at lunch yesterday against the Windward Islands.


At the wicket were Brenton Parchment on 21 and Shawn Findley on 29. The batsman out was Xavier Marshall for four. He was caught off medium-pacer Deighton Butler with the score on 11. Jamaica, defending champions of the eight-team tournament have six points, having taken first innings points from the Leeward Islands in their first match. The Windward Islands team is playing its first match.
