Carenage man dies after beating

A supervisor with the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corpo-ration succumbed to injuries sustained during a robbery and beating and became murder victim number 369 on Saturday. According to reports, Samuel Jack, 55, of Lanse Mitan, Carenage, was walking with a friend at Rodney Street, Pt Cumana at 1.20 pm on November 29, when a man pulled up in a car and demanded money, and threatened to shoot them. Jack was relieved of $1,300, while his friend was also relieved of an undisclosed quantity of cash. The friend then ran away, while Jack remained. After robbing the supervisor, the gunman beat him on the head with a gun butt and ran off. Passers-by rushed the injured man to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died.
