Miss Lover Lover gallops into Gold Cup fray

MISS LOVER LOVER showed she must be seriously considered in that feature five-horse Guardian Holdings Gold Cup at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Boxing Day, Tuesday. This five-year-old bay mare in the care of ex-jockey Edmund de Freitas hustled through an 800 metres gallop in the good time of 49.52 seconds. Carnival Messiah who lines up in the Guardian Asset Restricted Handicap with top weight, also had a good gallop, as some trainers put in final work for the big racing gala on the final day of the Arima Race Club 2005 season. The seven-year-old ex-derby winner who will tote 57.5 kilos was sent over 800 metres which he covered in 50.45 seconds. Twice Infallible and Stravinskys Secret also looked in fine fettle in their gallop over 1000 metres, stopping the clock at one minute 02.21 seconds.

And Royal Dame who is also being pointed for the Restricted handicap over 1200 metres, stepped 400 metres in a fine 25.59 seconds. There was a lot to like about the speedy Rusalka who galloped 600 metres in a handy 39.96 seconds and Ready Or Not who travelled the same trip in 39.20 seconds. But Lekh Raj was tugging for his head in a 600 metres spin timed in a handy 38.25 seconds. Two-year-old champ All For Java looks set for the Guardian Life St James Stakes over 1350 metres. The son of Java In Flight/Set All moved smoothly through an 800 metres gallop in a handy 53.42 seconds. But pre-race Guardian Holdings Gold Cup favourite Sugar Mike only ambled through 1000 metres in one minute 14.97 seconds.
