Give me my son for Christmas
“HAVE a heart for Christmas and let him go.” These were the words of Carol Changoor, who yesterday pleaded for the release of her son, Rajiv. While most people will celebrate Christmas tomorrow, Changoor said the family would be praying for his safe release. It has been a week since kidnappers grabbed the 19-year-old Rajiv outside the family’s supermarket at Eccles Village, Williamsville. Changoor yesterday said that since the kidnappers’ call on Tuesday, family members have received no word on the fate of their son. When Newsday spoke to her yesterday, Changoor begged and pleaded on the telephone for the release of her son. “Have a heart and please let him go.
Give us a Christmas present and set him free,” Changoor said. Although Changoor said the kidnappers had not asked for a ransom, police told Newsday yesterday that the kidnappers had demanded $1 million for Rajiv’s release. In making the plea, Changoor said her husband had been confined to bed due to high blood pressure since the incident. “He is taking it (kidnapping) the hardest. I don’t think anyone in the family, be it aunt or uncle, will celebrate Christmas this year,” Carol added. Officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad are continuing investigations.
