Grieving granny claims police harassment

MARJORIE SIMON, 75, grandmother of 14-year-old Anisha Simon, the girl shot dead at the Simple Song Panyard in Arima several weeks ago, claims her Pinto Road home has been raided three times by the  police. Simon, who has a heart ailment, told Sunday Newsday that police officers came to the house to look for ammunition and firearms.

“We don’t have anything here, and they keep coming and breaking up my things,” said the distraught woman who is still grieving for the granddaughter she raised from birth. She claimed that the officers do not show any warrants when they invade her home and have verbally abused members of her family. Anisha was killed by a stray bullet when gunmen opened fire at the panyard on August 30. Several other members from the panyard were injured in the shooting incident.
