Old Year’s Night activities proving to be very costly

While some owners of night spots are choosing to forego grand Old Year’s Night celebrations, or renting out their establishments for private functions, other hotels and big night clubs are going all out to making tonight a grand affair with relative cost attached. At the Hilton Trinidad Conference Centre and Ballroom, there will be three Old Year’s Night parties with eye-popping prices to attend. To wine and dine at La Boucan, each patron must fork out $1,499 for drinks, a seven-course dinner that also comes with breakfast at 3 am, and entertainment by Wendell Constantine and Wendy Sheppard. Across at “The Phantom of the Ballroom,” there will be a buffet dinner, drinks and live dancing music from Blue Ventures, plus party favours for $1,199. The combination of Constantine and Sheppard will also be in attendance. And lower income earners can enjoy dinner, drinks and deejay music at the hotel’s poolside for $350. All prices are inclusive of taxes.

Down at the Crowne Plaza, dinner and drinks are at $360, and dancing on the 12th floor can be bought for $695 per person, or for those who wish to sleep over, there is a package deal of dinner for two, bar access, accommodation, a bottle of champagne and complimentary breakfast for $2,500. At the popular Zen night club, there is a VIP Old Years Night party on Levels II and III for $995 per person with dress code in effect. That price comes with a bottle of Mot and Chandon champagne per ticket, hors d’oeuvres, access to an ultra premium bar and party favours. Crews Inn in Chaguaramas is offering dinner, complimentary glass of champagne and entertainment by saxophonist Pedro Lezama for $1,200 per couple. On the Avenue, Olives will be offering dinner, bar access, dance, finger food and party favours for $750 per person. Should patrons prefer to go just for the dance, finger food, drinks and party favours, however, they can do so for $350.

There is also the Shanghai Experience at Movie Towne where patrons must be formally dressed. The cost of that entertainment is $395, including dinner, dance and a complimentary glass of champagne. At Pier 1 in Chaguaramas, a group calling themselves “Eyes Wide Shut” will be hosting “Seven Delights” at $300 per person for premium drinks and finger food. Also, patrons must be dressed in black. Should party-goers opt for a more relaxed setting, the Harvard Club will be having its annual Old Year’s Dinner and Dance at the clubhouse on Tragarete Road at a cost of $175 per person, inclusive of dinner, party favours and chasers.
