386th murder victim identified
THIS COUNTRY’S 386th murder victim, who died at the Arima District Hospital on Friday evening after being shot in the back, hands and feet, has been identified as Frank James, 42, of Cumuto Road, Cumuto. James, who had several drug convictions, was shot at about 6.40 pm on Temple Street, Arima. He died on arrival at the hospital. Visiting the scene were Insp John Daniel, Sgt Peter Hamilton, Cpl Wayne Winston, Constables Rennie Katwaroo, Rohan Newton of the Arima CID and Sgt Forde of the Homicide Bureau who is continuing inquiries.
In an unrelated matter, 17 persons, including a 19-year-old teen were arrested in an early morning exercise yesterday and will appear before an Arima magistrate on Tuesday for various offences. According to reports, in an exercise conducted between 3 am and 10 am, the suspects were arrested for burglaries, robberies, possession of ammunition, drugs and other offences. The exercise spearheaded by Insp John Daniel and the police party included Sgt Peter Hamilton, Cpls Earl Charles, Sherwin Haynes, Raymond Emanuel, Wayne Winston, and PC Albert Philips.
