Eight held for drugs
EIGHT persons, in-cluding a 37-year-old Fyzabad woman, were arrested for possession of $1,500 worth of marijuana and cocaine during a police exercise yesterday morning. Four persons between the ages of 19 to 25 were arrested after police officers executed a search warrant at Mulchan Trace. The officers found ap-proximately 195 gram-mes of marijuana, valued over $1,000 and nine grammes of cocaine, valued at $500, in their possession. The officers also executed a search warrant at a house at Easy Street, where four persons, including the 37-year-old woman, were arrested for possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana. The exercise began around 3 am yesterday and ended around 8.30 am. It was headed by Cpl Cuthbert Straker and in-cluded PCs Clinton Noel, Dennis Sooknanan, Ryan Ali, Lester Samuel, Syed Mohammed and Rudy Rooplal, all of the Fyzabad Police Station. All the arrested persons are expected to appear before Siparia Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor tomorrow.
