Tidal Wave swimmers for US meet
A FIFTEEN-MEMBER team will represent Tidal Wave Aquatics at the 25th annual Martin Luther King Swim Classic from Friday until Sunday (January 13-15) at the Nassau County Aquatic Centre, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, Long Island, New York. Led by coach Hazel Haynes, the team includes a number of national swimmers — Christopher Buffong, Anthony Edwards, David Edwards, Raenelle Carillo, Donna-Marie Wickham, Joseph Ryan and Jonathan Fabio. The squad leaves Trinidad on Wednesday and returns on January 16. Also, the club will host the annual National Secondary Schools’ Swim Meet for the second straight year, at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence Swimming Pool Complex, Tunapuna. Meanwhile, the Club held its annual award ceremony on Saturday with presentations to its swimmers who represented Trinidad and Tobago at the CARIFTA Games in Curacao last April, the CCCAN Games in the Dominican Republic and the Goodwill Games in Guyana, both in August. Jonathan Fabio and Donna-Marie Wickham were named as the Most Outstanding Male and Female Swimmers respectively.
