Jamaicans to reshuffle team
KINGSTON: Jamaica’s cricket selectors said yesterday they would make lineup changes after the national team suffered two bitter defeats in the Carib Beer Series regional matches. "I’ll be meeting with the other selectors, the captain and coach to discuss several issues but there is definitely going to be some changes," said Ruddy Williams, chairman of selectors. Coach Robert Haynes blamed indiscipline for Jamaica’s road losses to Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. Haynes said captain Wavell Hinds had a hard time trying to motivate players in both matches, which Jamaica lost by 282 runs and 10 wickets. Williams did not say which players were in danger of being cut from the roster for the four-day match against Guyana starting in Kingston on January 27. But he said changes were critical for the team to qualify for the Carib Beer Challenge Trophy in February. Jamaica are the defending champions of the six-team tournament. They are twelve points behind and have relinquished their title after the recent losses. Barbados lead the standings with 24 points, six ahead of second-place Trinidad.
