Citigroup team cops bpTT Pro-Am Golf


THE TEAM of professional Tommy Wolfenberger, Ameen Ho Sing Loy, Ahamad Ali and Haroon Joseph of Citigroup have won the bpTT Charity Pro-Am which ended on Friday at the St Andrews Golf Course, Moka.


The team accumulated a nett score of 260 at the end of the two-day competition.


The Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) finished eight strokes behind their team comprised of professional Tony Grubert as well as Randall Mohammed, Wayne Baptiste and Dowson Mohip.


Damus Limited and Guardian Holdings were third and fourth respectively with 269 and 271 strokes over the two days.


However Fluor Daniel captured the Scramble category. They too had a difficult time out on the course but eventually prevailed after the two days.


Their team comprised of Brian Smith (professional), Dan Spinks, Eric Hennington and Max Easley who completed with a nett score of 59.


Citigroup claimed the second place position in this category when they finished two shots off the winners— 61. The Citigroup outfit tried to follow in the footsteps of their colleagues in the Pro-Am tourney but fell behind by two strokes, despite having a competitive team of Iain Mc Inally, Ho Sing Loy, Hayden Imam and Mark Camino.


H J Staubles — Tommy Wolfenberger, Harry Stau-ble, Rodney Masters and Troy Ginty Mc Ginty— finished third with a score of 62 while Baroid Number 2 completed the top four places with a similar score of 62.


Meanwhile, Tim Thelen finished the final day with a shot of 70 to claim the top spot among the professionals.


Thelen had only the day before shot a similar 70 which allowed him to tally 140 after the two days.


Scotsman Lee Varnet had a 72 on the opening day and then backed it up with an impressive 69 to finish just a stroke behind the winner on 141.


Graham Fox also completed the two days with a total of 141— which consisted 70 on the first day and 71 on the second— for a third place finish.


Simon Edwards was fourth among the group with a tally of 141, after he had shot 70 and 71 respectively.
