Several killed in Florida school bus crash

LAKE BUTLER, Florida: At least seven people were killed in the crash of a school bus and a tractor-trailer yesterday in rural northern Florida, police said.

Students were among those killed, and several were taken to a Gainesville Hospital, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The bus was operated by the Union County school district, which has three schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, district official Anita Andrews said. She had no other information up to press time.

The crash happened about four miles south of Lake Butler, which is 56 miles southwest of Jacksonville.

The National Transportation Safety Board sent a team of investigators to the scene.
