Woman raped and robbed at home
A MOTHER of two was raped by one of two bandits who broke into her home on Monday night. Police said one of the bandits took the victim to an ABM machine in San Fernando where they forced her to withdraw $8,000, before raping her. According to a police report, the woman, her husband and their two children, of Retrench Village, San Fernando, were asleep at their home at 9.15 pm, when they were awakened by banging on the front door. The report stated that when the woman opened the door, she was confronted by two men — one armed with a cutlass and the other with a gun. The men announced a hold-up and ordered the woman back into the house, where she was told to wake up her husband and children. The report revealed that the men huddled the family of four into a bedroom before they proceeded to rob them of a quantity of jewelry, cash and electronic items. The woman’s credit card was seized by one of the bandits who forced her into the family’s Mazda 323. While one bandit kept the husband and children at gunpoint, the other drove the woman to the Cross Crossing branch of RBTT. She was then forced to withdraw $8,000 in cash from an ABM machine. Police said the woman was then taken back to her home where she was forced into a bedroom by the same bandit, and raped. The woman’s husband and her two children were not harmed during the incident, police said. Both men then escaped in the family’s vehicle. The car was later found abandoned along Corinth Road, Ste Madeleine. The woman was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was medically examined and treated for minor bruises. Police said the family received professional counselling. Cpl Parson of Ste Madeleine Police Station is investigating.
